Gerebeg or Grebeg has the meaning "the wind". Garebeg is one of the customary Kraton Ngayogyakarta that for the first time organized by the Sultan Hamengku Buwana I. During one year there were three times the Garebeg Mulud Garebeg ceremony, Garebeg Large, and Garebeg Sawal held in the Palace complex and the surrounding environment, such as in the North Square.

That is why Garebeg held to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, called Garebeg Mulud. Actually dated 12 Rabiulawal has two important meanings in the lives of the Prophet, because it is believed by Muslims that Prophet Muhammad was born and died on the same date and month.
The tradition of commemorating the birthday of the Prophet is only grown after Islam spreads to other countries outside the Arabian peninsula. Prophet Muhammad's birthday is not a legal holiday Islam, because Islam knows only two holidays, the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Celebration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW as the royal ceremony was spearheaded by the Sultanate of Demak, over time preserved by the Javanese kings who came to be known very popular as Garebeg Mulud.

For someone who has repeatedly visited Yogyakarta, Malioboro, Sultan Palace, Kaliurang, Prambanan, Borobudur, and Parangtritis certainly become mandatory for the menu in Yogyakarta. As if a magnet, where the place was never empty of visitors, both domestic and abroad. If you want to use for refreshing your holiday, regardless of the complexity of the highway and fro of the crowd, of course these places are not a wise choice. There is one alternative to the natural attractions which are very suitable to restore your mental fitness. The place is called Gua Cerme.
Cerme cave is located about 22 kilometers south of Yogyakarta city, exactly in Srunggo hamlets, villages Selopamioro, Imogiri subdistrict, Bantul District, IN. Yogyakarta. More easily, the main road toward the cave is Parangtritis road, the road to attractions most popular beach in Yogyakarta. Kretek around bridges, great bridge which divides the River Opak, there is a bend to the left and right on the turn there is a hint of the direction marked "Goa Cerme" From there, the road to the cave began to climb down following the contour of the land in the area.
Cave physically have the 1,200-meter tunnel and it took two hours to wander up to the other cave. The passageway in the cave is a natural water channel similar functions and has a meandering path and filled with various forms of stalactite and stalagmites of various sizes. At a depth of about 500 m from the mouth of the cave, visitors can see an open spot size 3 x 3 meter, known as the cave Paseban.
The visitors who intend to enter the cave, we recommend contacting the caretaker to obtain proper information and guidance about these caves. According to history, Cave Cerme (Carame = speaking / preaching), discovered first by the Wali Songo in the early spread of Islam in Java. Since the discovery, the cave was then used as a place of contemplation and deliberation propaganda strategy. Part caves once used by the Guardian as a meeting place is a space that has precisely resembles Kenthongan stalactite.
Based on that history, not surprisingly, then naming the parts of cave use the term Islamic. All the way down the aisle of the cave, starting from the entrance to the hamlet Srunggo, Imogiri, visitors will find the points that the guide referred to as watu study, pelungguhan / Paseban, celestial, Grojogan Sewu, water penguripan, gamelan, gilang stone, building sekakap , court, stage, and watu lawa cave hanging, then arrived at the exit of the village Ploso, Giritirto, Bake, Gunungkidul.
One thing is for sure, you will be soaking wet after exploring the inside of this cave. So try to bring a change of clothes. If you want to go deeper and do caving with meaning and motivation of a more serious, take a guide or friend who is experienced in cave exploration. Besides thorough preparation and equipment needed for the expedition's success and satisfaction of your heart.
If you are lucky, you can also see a local traditional ritual called Merti Dusun (Clean Village) and held in the courtyard Jodhangan Cerme Cave. This traditional ceremonies held every year at the Sunday Pahing big month of Javanese calendar. They say this tradition is passed on from generation to generation and remains the cultural legacy is still carried out by people around the cave cerme.

Krebet Tourism Village, Bantul

Krebet Tourism Village, Bantul

Maybe not many people know that in Bantul village there are so many attractions, among others Krebet I have ever visited. This place is still very beautiful, green and peaceful impression. Krebet Sendangsari located in the village, district of Displays, Bantul district is very famous for its wooden batik.
Located approximately 12 km southwest of Yogyakarta city, or nearby attractions Selarong cave. tourist village here homestay also provides a very comfortable, away from the hustle and pengapnya city air. In addition, visitors can enjoy and learn how to make batik process timber from the beginning to become a good and valuable items of high art.
Various wooden batik handicraft products such as masks, cupboard, home accesories and so on can be found here. But they are relatively inexpensive, because we buy directly from artisans. Souvenir-souvenir beautiful from up to 300,000 Rp.3.000 price exists. In addition to feeling beautiful and comfortable atmosphere in the countryside, we can learn batik with the local community. It takes patience and prudence for the extra wood batik in the media, because 100% is manpower.

When I go there with the two younger brother and my husband had to stay two days in one of the homestay, the place is very comfortable, there do not expect to be online or using cell phones, the signal is very difficult.impression that there never could I forget, my husband was offered a period of learning to climb a coconut tree .. he he first tremor. But for the brave, we are allowed to climb palm trees and take the juice (raw material for making brown sugar). Most cool yes when he joined the tour teak forests using jeeps.
Although the distance from my house until this Krebet village, only about one hour to use a little speeding motorcycle lho ya, but I'm also for a time to stay. Want to know more about the craft villages in Bantul. To stay at a homestay is not expensive, only 40,000 to Rp 100,000, if that 40,000 can only snack, if the parties can not eat one time Rp.100.000 village style.
To get to the tourist village Krebet, from the center of Jogja city, going through a very smooth asphalt roads, no roads damaged or perforated, the scenery on either side of the road only teak trees or forests. houses that distance apart, and each passed with a population that passed, we could say "nderek langkung" (Potential) or "nyuwun Sewu" (excuse me). There are signs when we get to the village Krebet Semar is a large statue. If you've encountered a large statue of Semar, means you've entered the village Krebet.

A day in the streets jogja

A day in the streets jogja

Arts, Culture and customs are still thick with the city of Yogyakarta. This was proved by order ofthe Kraton Yogyakarta which still looks magnificent from the outer court to the artistic architecture.
Exhibition Hall which became even reception area before entering the palace used as an icon of local community pride. In addition to a culture that was so thick, usually in short Jogjakarta Jogja has a myriad of special food that should taste. Therefore, we intentionally invite you to holiday in this city while tasting typical food of Jogja.

Warm
Besides the palace, the city of Yogyakarta is also known as 'Gudeg'. It is not surprising because after we visited the Kraton Yogyakarta, a pedicab driver brother offered us to visit the center warm in the street Wjilan.
Immediately, we drove towards the north plaza, then turn right and go into the castle gate. Once looked way Wijilan, the ranks of stalls selling jackfruit and neatly lined up along the way Wijilan it.
Interestingly, almost all sellers to use a label with the prefix Yuk / Yu, which in Javanese means mbak or sister. One seller who has a lot of us have encountered are pelangganyang Djum Yu.
In the tavern Yu Djum, we must stand in line waiting their turn to taste the warm mainstay. Shortly warm plate in front of us, a spoonful of warm rice straight to our mouths. ". Taste typical foods of Jogja directly felt, the more dormin sweetness makes this young jackfruit vegetable Manjadi typical.
To offset the strong sweet taste, Yu Djum pour areh (savory coconut milk sauce) above gudegnya. Yu Djum more perfectly warm when added to one of it's accompanying side dishes such as eggs, chicken bacem, Suwir chicken, liver or ampela.
Yu Djum warm presentation can be ordered to suit your needs. For those who want to enjoy a warm can order them directly in the serving dish with a price of between Rp 5,000 to Rp 15,000. But if you want to buy it for souvenirs, available two forms of packaging. Besek packaging (box of woven bamboo) and Kendil (round container made of clay).
For packaging besek pegged at a price of between Rp 50,000 to Rp 100,000, while the Kendil can be ordered starting price of Rp 75,000 to Rp 150,000. All prices are adjusted with accompanying side dishes.
Although its price looked relatively expensive, warm delights Yu Djum not need another questionable dira. Existing warm since 1957 has quite a lot of customers from different cities.

Lotek and Gado-gado
After being around in the street Wijilan, we also offered to try the gado-gado and the famous lotek cobek magnitude.
Location of vendor stalls and lotek hodgepodge was not far from the station from the Dutch, Lempuyangan. From the station to the east to find a way Argolubang, there looks a little store that said 'Lotek & Gado gado'. already famous, precisely in the way Argolubang.
Once entering the store, we immediately went to see Mr. Sugeng as well as the owner of the store peracik. Father of three children is already pursue this business since 27 years ago. This store fame lies in his unique mix cobek place marinade.
in a large stone Cobek (60X 80 cm), the pak Sugeng able to mix ingredients for 50 servings at once. To find a superior taste and gado gado lotek pak Sugeng, we ordered one serving of each menu.
Without the need for a long time, pak Sugeng seasoning mix directly with the fun. Pak did not accomplish? 'It is usual mas' pak Sugeng said, smiling. A moment later lotekyang consisting of diamond, cabbage, spinach, potatoes, tomatoes, touge, bakwan (fried vegetables), and crackers washed down with a spice beans that are ready to eat.
After we intervened and vegetable seasonings are evenly distributed, we also helped sway the tongue, um ... a delicious aroma of beans directly toward us. Lotek bean seasoning made from roasted peanuts, lime leaves, garlic, brown sugar, and salt are perfectly when mixed with vegetable mixture.
We did not miss to taste-gadonya gado, gado-gado is not so different from how it looks lotek. Although the two look the same but these snacks proved to have different ingredients and seasonings. For the vegetable, salad gado-gado using lotek while using spinach. Medium spice, lotek using water as a solvent liquid seasoning mixed nuts and use coconut milk. Another difference shown in the accompanying materials kerupuknya, other than shrimp crackers gado gado also served with crackers, chips, while lotek only
shrimp only.
We had to eat two servings, it's stomach is full, but the enjoyment and gado-gado lotek pak Sugeng this can not be forgotten just like that. This seems no exaggeration to see the number of buyers who continue to come in this place, do not be surprised if one day pak Sugeng able to sell 400 servings for the two kinds of menu.

Round

For breakfast we enjoyed the warm Djum Yu, lunch and dinner lotek gado-gado. That night, we are still looking for a comfortable place and have a snack worthy of taste, in which approximately?
We recommend a colleague to visit the square of Taman Sari (alkyd = the square south). There every day, visited by many people, especially during this holiday. In the middle of the plaza Taman Sari, there are two large banyan tree which is located separately and given a fence on each tree.
Well, according to local belief, if we are able to walk straight through the gap to two fruit trees with his eyes closed. Whatever we demand terkabulkan, and this ritual known as Masangin. It was worth a try, it seems easy but after trying to phrase it would wear off.
We tried it two to three times the new work. It turns out that experience is not just our nature, the majority of visitors will also experience the same thing, except for those already accustomed to pass the place.
After trying the ritual Masangin tired, we see too many stores that sell wedang wheelbarrows round the square around the Taman Sari. Hot dish is able to warm our bodies at night.
While joking, we enjoyed a bowl of sticky rice flour spheres containing round, white bread, sliced and fro, and roasted peanuts. All material is washed down with hot sauce taste sweet ginger. To enjoy a round bowl wedang turns out we only spend money amounting to Rp 1000, hargayang cheaper than when we rented masks for Rp 3000.
